"Views on Online Poker"
October 16, 2008
Hello, I was interested to your stance on online poker. Where will you vote on legalizing online poker?
Thank You, Nate
RESPONSE:
Nate,
Thank you for writing. I believe gambling is a state issue. I would therefore be opposed to a federal bill that addresses it in any way, other than to reaffirm that it is in fact a state issue.
Having said that, while I recognize that this is an important issue to many, I think the federal government has a lot of urgent, fundamental issues before it right now, thanks to the Bush Administration's undermining nearly every aspect of American life. I believe our national priorities are 1) ending the Iraq occupation, 2) ending the looting of our national treasury by corporations, 3) restoring the integrity of our elections and 4) restoring our erroded civil liberties 5) bringing about single-payer, universal health care 6) investing in energy independence and 6) addressing global climate change.
Please let me know if you have any other questions, and thank you again for writing.
